The Bachelor UK gets an explosive start

We all know that Channel 5’s latest reality TV show, The Bachelor, was going to provide plenty of fireworks. But few people would have realised just how emotional the first couple of episodes of the Bachelor UK were going to be.

Already we’ve had some dramatic fistfights as the bachelorettes brawled over the attentions of the lucky Bachelor. And with some shocking news that the eventual winner of The Bachelor 2019 has already been leaked, it seems that Chanel 5 just can’t keep this awesome reality TV show under control.

What is The Bachelor UK all about?

The Bachelor UK is a British spin-off of the already well-established American TV franchise. Although other reality dating shows such as Love Island and Shipwrecked keep their romantic hopefuls in some pretty remote locations, The Bachelor is much more straightforward as a group of desperate women try and woo one lucky gent.

The Bachelor UK was previously on our screens in 2011 with the likes of Gavin Henson and Spencer Matthews getting to choose from a host of attractive yet slightly scary ladies. After a lengthy absence, Channel 5 have got the rights to the TV show and it looks like The Bachelor UK is back and better than ever.

The concept of the show is simple. The ‘bachelor’ gets to pick his partner from a group of single women from all over the country. Each show will see the bachelor going on a series of dates, and then he will have a special rose ceremony where he gives roses to those ladies who he wants to stay in the show.

As a result, it’s a race amongst the women to try and win the bachelor over through their dating techniques. By the end of the series of The Bachelor, a happy couple should emerge who are perfectly suited for each other. But like so many other reality TV shows, things don’t always go as planned.

Who is the 2019 Bachelor UK?

2019’s UK Bachelor was revealed to be Alex Marks – handsome yet very bearded and long-haired gent from London. The 31-year old hunk owns a personal training studio in London, and while he is a successful businessman, it seems that it has left him little in the way of true love.

By choosing a fairly normal member of the public to be the bachelor, the rebooted show has made a break with the past that sought celebrities to fill the role. It’s an interesting move from the show’s producers, and it’s going to be fascinating to see what happens.

What has happened so far in The Bachelor UK?

So far we have met each one of the 15 bachelorettes in the stunning location in South Africa. Mark Wright has been on hand as the host who tries to make sense of all the going’s on, and the premiere featured an awkward twist where the ladies had to prove themselves to the other contestants.

As a result, the likes of Natasha and Faran were unceremoniously booted out before they’d even got chance to make an impression on Alex. After this, the remaining ladies got chance to meet The Bachelor.

As predicted this was hugely cringeworthy, but there were whole new levels of shame delivered by Lois. The 31-year old immediately asked Alex for a kiss within seconds of meeting the hunk, and it remains to be seen whether such a bold move will pay off in the long run.

These awkward moments were definitely painful but it only took a couple of episodes for The Bachelor UK to deliver some serious fireworks. After only one day in the villa, Alicia was clearly inflamed when Claudia managed to get some alone time with Alex.

As a result, Alicia dragged Alex away, and a furious Claudia quickly struck back and stole Alex’s attention. The other bachelorettes clearly thought that Alicia was being a hypocrite, and the whole thing suddenly exploded. This saw Alicia getting right in Frankie’s face, and it was lucky that Tara stepped in at the right time otherwise things could have gone pear-shaped very fast.

While Alex was looking understandably confused, he managed to break off his chat with Claudia to separate a fight that had just started between Alicia and Tara. Not that events like this are going to make things any easier for Alex, as he will still have to propose to one of these out of control women in the season finale.

Weirdly enough, it was Claudia who didn’t receive a flower in the concluding rose ceremony. Even though this bachelorette has seemed relatively stable and calm, it seems that Alex was more impressed with the war-like attributes of Alicia and Tara. All of which sets things up for a fantastic season of romantic reality TV.

Has the ending of The Bachelor UK already been leaked?

Don’t worry we aren’t going to give you any spoilers, but it looks like one of the show’s contestants, Tonique Campbell, has already broken with the ranks and started telling everyone who won the current season of The Bachelor UK.

Such a revelation would be a huge blow for Channel 5 who were pinning huge hopes on The Bachelor that it would be the perfect follow-up for the recently concluded Big Brother. Thankfully, it seems that most people are ignoring Tonique’s shock revelations. And even if we knew who won The Bachelor UK, it would still make for some seriously unmissable reality TV.

So which of the Bachelorettes could end up winning the rose of Alex? We’re still getting to know the contestants, but Tara already seems like she is a future Kardashian, whereas it will be interesting to see whether the circus skills of Georgina could tempt Alex.

As Alex is the physical type he might also be interesting in an adrenaline junkie like Victoria, whereas Lily’s financial background could also be a great choice for the lovestruck Alex.
