Dancing On Ice 2018 – The overall review?

If you are a Brit, living in this realm and not from a parallel space, then I’m sure Dancing On Ice will not be strange to you. It’s a British show presented by Philip Schofield…our dear Schofield alongside Holly Willoughby, but this collaboration lasted for five years (from 2006 to 2011), he was then replaced by Christine Bleakly, hers only lasted for 2 years (from 2012 – 2014).

On the 4th of September, 2017, it was announced that there would be a revived series and that it would air on ITV with Schofield and Willoughby returning as hosts. Giving us that nostalgic feeling of the old. Meanwhile, on the 25th of January, 2018. They (the organizers of the show) confirmed that the show (Dancing on Ice) had been recommissioned for an eleventh series to air in 2019.

The sad part for me was that it for three years, there was nothing…absolutely, nothing to scream and aww at (permit me to use that). The suffering didn’t last though.

Before we go to the 12th edition, and how its set to hit the screen again. Let us talk about the fact that after been absent for three years, we should celebrate the return of one of our favorite reality TV show.

THE OVERVIEW

It took some time out but like I said earlier, won’t it be interesting to reminiscent on the previous show? So, let’s do it.

The show returned to our screens, and interestingly, they didn’t disappoint. Started on the 7th of January. The first part of the show hit us with 6 of the 12 contestants showcasing their talent – Candice Brown, Anthony Cotton, Jake Quickenden, Kem Cetinay, Stephanie Waring, and Perri Shakes-Drayton. They took to the ice to display the first routine and their amazing skills.

The Line-Up

We won’t forget the celebrities that got signed up, and their faces lighted up the whole show. The excitement started right from the news of every one of them been signed up by the organizers of the show.

Brooke Vincent

The coronation star was the first to be announced! She talked about the fact that she loved the idea of a new challenge and ice skating being an amazing skill. Brooke Vincent said “I think I can dance [but] I’m a bit like a bull in the china shop. She also said, “If I get injured at least I’ll look sparkly on the way to the hospital.”

The good news was delivered by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. The young star revealed that she has been preparing for the new role by going to the gym. Sophie Webster (the role she played on the ITV soap) obviously can keep her new role a secret.

Kem Cetinay

The 21-year-old star appeared on the reality TV show Island a few months back and has ever since warmed his way into the hearts of the fan. Kem’s friendship with Chris Hughes (a co-star) concretizes this fact.

Cheryl Baker

Our darling Cheryl Baker was the second celebrity after Brooke Vincent to be confirmed on the next series of the show.

Cheryl Baker, who first won The Eurovision Song Contest in the early 80s, she was part of a group known then as Bucks Fizz. She confirmed are spot on the show in an appearance on…yep you guess right… Lorraine.

Candice Brown

The winner of The Great British Bake Off in 2016, Candice Brown appeared on the show. According to her, she said: “It’s nerve-wracking. I start my training today. I take my first steps on the ice later on. My friends call me Bambi on Ice and that’s just normal day today!”

Jake Quickenden

Once upon a time, Jake appeared on the show in two seasons (2012 and 2014 to be precise). He was confirmed on Lorraine. When interviewed, he said: “I’m terrified. I had my first training session yesterday – I was freezing! Ice is cold! But it was amazing, the coaches are unbelievable. I just feel so lucky that I’ve been asked to do it.

“I’m so buzzing, I can’t even explain. It’s my mum’s favorite! I’ve been wearing Danielle’s tights to get used to the lycra!”

Lemar Obika

Lemar was not supposed to be on the show, but an injury to Monty Panesar saw him replaced. He stepped in as a replacement/back up. Apparently, he had been rehearsing in secret, just in case, anyone got injured.

Max Evans

Max Evans did an amazing job on the show. Alongside Candice. He said: “I haven’t done any skating since I was a kid, and this is completely different having to skate on live television. I’ve had two training sessions which have hurt my feet a lot. We’ve all had a dance, which is familiar territory, but skating is so not…”

Alex Beresford

“My son Cruz is seven and I told him I was doing it when I found out and I said, ‘Look you’ve got to keep this as a big secret, you can’t tell anyone’ and he’s not told a single person, I’m so proud of him – but now he can go and shout about it in school.” Alex.

“I’ve wanted to do this show for ages. It’s been the biggest secret I’ve ever kept.”

He confirmed his spot on the show on a weather segment on Good Morning Britain.

Anthony Cotton

Having two Wethersfield residents partake in the show was a great deal for the street fans. That was one of the high points of the show.

He confirmed his spot on an episode of the Monday Night’s Coronation Street. In his words: “I’m Antony Cotton from ‘Coronation Street’ and I’ve got some really cool news.

“Dancing on Ice is back and guess what – I’m a contestant.

This was great news for the residents of Wethersfield.

Stephanie Waring

Will it be wrong to say that she is my crush…Nah! Anyways, the 39-year-old star was the last celebrity to sign up for the reality TV show.

Even though the show has come and gone, we can’t wait to see the 12th edition. Fans are patiently waiting…I am too
