When will the Dancing on Ice start?

The new series of the show will return to ITV on the 6th of January, 2019 at 6 pm. They recently released the confirmation of the starting of the show. It was one of the finest Christmas adverts for last year.

The contestants: Let’s meet them

Let’s take a look at those that will be on the celebrity line-up for 2019. First, we all know that there are 12 celebrities who would be taking to the ice for the new series. We’ve been seeing some of the teasers on Instagram. The first two celebrities were confirmed on the 1st of October, 2018 (which was last year). More announcement ensued. The celebrities include:

Saara Aalto

One of the first celebrities that was confirmed is Saara Aalto. A former X Factor star, she competed for Finland in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. When interviewed, she said “I’m super excited about this, I love new challenges and I’m very ambitious. I can be very competitive, but I mainly want to challenge myself.”

Wes Nelson

The Love Island Star was a finalist in the 2018 Love Island finalist is the last contestant to be confirmed for the 2019 series of Dancing on ice.

He said “Gemma Collins is going to wipe the floor with me, I’m super intimidated,” he said. “I’ve been looking at the line-up thinking, ‘Oh my gosh!’ Of course, you’ll be seeing my hips on the ice and the hips don’t lie!”

Fans would love to see him come back to the show after making a positive impression with the Love Island. No wonder they had to call him back. I guess the TV bosses were impressed too.

Didi Conn

Didi Con is an actor known for playing Frenchy in the Grease series. She is the oldest contestant to appear on the show so far! The confirmation was made on ITV’s Lorraine where Didi Conn was quoted to have said “Boy oh boy, I’m going from being a Pink Lady to Queen of the Ice. I’m coming to the UK on Monday and I can’t wait to see you!”

Ryan Sidebottom

A former Cricketer, the addition of Ryan was announced on Talksport Radio. He said “I’m immensely excited. It’s obviously something totally different, massively out of my comfort zone. I’m just going to enjoy the ride, I don’t take myself too seriously. I’m going to embrace it, enjoy it, and have a laugh and a giggle along the way”

Jane Danson

Jane Danson is a Coronation Street Star. It was on Loose Women that the actor, who plays Leanne Battersby on Coronation Star would be the next celebrity on the list. When interviewed, Danson revealed that previous Corrie stars of the show have been advising her. She said: “I’m getting loads of tips from Samia [Longchambon], and Brooke [Vincent] and Antony [Cotton], and Andrew Whyment’s done it before, so I’ve got really lovely support from the cast.”

Melody Thornton

Melody is one of the Pussycat Dolls. It was revealed on Good Morning Britain. She shared: “I guess the cat’s out of the bag. I’m so excited, I can’t wait to see you and I can’t wait to do some skating for you”

Saira Khan

The story of Saira Khan’s addition is a funny one. The intervention of her boy was what changed her mind. When asked she said “What am I doing?” she said. “Honestly, they asked me and I refused. I said I’m too old, I’ll fall and hurt myself, I’m too busy I don’t have the time.

“Then my little boy said: ‘Have you heard yourself? What if I told you I couldn’t do my homework today, that I’m too busy?

“He shamed me into it so I’m doing it for my kids basically. Janet will say I’m doing it for the money but I’m doing it for my kids…” She revealed this on the Loose Women.

James Jordan

James is Strictly Come Dancing Star. His inclusion was announced live on BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast. It was on the show he addressed the issue of his “unfair advantage” of him being a professional dancer. He said, “When I got on the ice, I actually shocked myself how bad I was.”

Brian McFadden

The former member of the popular boyband Westlife was announced on Lorraine. When Brian was interviewed, he said “I’m very excited,” he talked about his involvement in the show.

“I’ve already been practicing out the back garden on my rollerblades and my mammy says I’m a one-man Torvill and Dean. Watch this space!”

Gemma Collins

The Only Way is Essex darling has been confirmed to appear on the show. Collins said “I am scared, I am nervous, I don’t know how they’re going to lift me up and how fast I can move around the ice, but I really want to give it a go.

“I love the costumes, I want the fun factor. I just really want to give this a go!”.

Richard Blackwood

The British rapper was announced while he was on “This Morning” show, he said “I grew up in Sweden, so I used to skate out there.

“I can skate, but I normally dance on dry land. So, dancing and skating are two different things, which I’ve got to combine.”
