The Voice 2019 – Judges, Start Date and New Rules

Ding! Ding!! Ding!! The Voice returns to our screen this weekend. I’m sure you can’t hold in the excitement, me either. Well, if you’ve missed the previous editions, don’t be too hard on yourself. Here is a chance for you to make up for it. With the Celebrity coaches, funny, wacky and jaw-dropping auditions to the real deal itself…

We all love the part where contestants come up with new things. If you didn’t read the part that stated when the program will start (which you should), we wouldn’t just share the time with you, we will also be giving you the main 411 on the Judges, (as we’ve said) the date of the event, and the new rules governing the show. Everything you need to know about the event, trust me, we’ve got you covered.

Have you seen the TV advert for the new series? We love it! You really need to see it for yourself.

We all felt sad when the X-factor wrapped up, but with The Voice hitting the air on ITV, everything will be back to normal. The new series will start this Saturday, with Will..i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Olly Murs, and…drum roll, please… Sir Tom Jones. The 2018 edition saw the wonder kid, Ruti Olajugbagbe win the coveted prize of a recording contract with Polydor Records. Now, who will win the 2019 edition of the show? Only time will tell. Did we mention that Emma Willis will be back as the host of the event? Yes, after all, if it isn’t broken then why fix it?

When will the show start?

Forgive me if you’ve heard it countless times, but according to ITV, the music reality TV show will start on the 5th of January, 2019 at 8 pm. The show will begin with the blind audition, where you get to see funny, interesting and wacky acts. The show will be happening at the exact time the BBC dancing show “the Greatest Dancer” starring Cheryl Tweedy will start airing. Remember, the show runs for just 14 episodes. The first episode will air for 1 hour and 35 minutes, and will end by around 9:35 pm. This weekend we are about to witness the start of the eighth season of the reality TV show, yippee!

Ever since 2013 when the second season ended, the show has gone on for 13 to 14 weeks. 2018 which was the 7th Season ran for over 14 weeks. So, with this in mind, there is a high probability that the show might end in the first week of April.

The Host

The host will be Emma Willis. She hosted the previous season. I guess she did so great that they had to bring her back again. What’s more interesting about her is the new ultra-blonde hairdo she is currently spotting. According to Emma, she is still getting used to seeing unexpected performances, some of which make her cry like a baby, give her goosebumps or even start busting a move.

She felt happy about the idea of returning as the host. I mean, who won’t? After the whole Big Brother saga, its time she made the best of it.

The Judges

It seems we will be witnessing something that has never happened before in the history of the show, which is having the same judging panel for two seasons in a row. The show will feature Danny O’Donoghue, Jessie J, Jennifer Hudson, Will.i.am, and Tom Jones. The only judge known to take part in all of the seasons of The Voice is the former Black-Eyed Peas member Will.i.am. Meanwhile, another Judge that has appeared on the show for many seasons is Tom Jones. He has appeared on the Music Reality TV show for seven seasons except for when he was replaced with Boy George in the 2016 series.

Jennifer Hudson and Olly Murs, on the other hand, joined the judging community in last year’s edition. With Jennifer Hudson coming from American Idol and Olly coming from the X-factor.

Rules and Format

The Voice 2019 season features the same popular format where the judges sit with their back to the auditionee while he/she/they perform. The show is not about how you look but more about the texture and the sound of your voice… After all, that’s why the show is called “The Voice”.

It’s all about your voice… In a situation where the judges love what they hear, bam! They hit the red button and turn their chair to face the auditionee. Once the performer has been accepted by the judges, they get to choose the coach which they want as theirs out of all the judges who pressed their button. This means if you only get one judge to press and turn around, then there’s only one coach to choose from.

Once this phase ends, the winners of the blind audition will then be taking to the battle phase where the knocking out and live shows will begin.

One thing that’s worth talking about is the fact that “The Voice” will now allow trios to audition, unlike how it used to be in the past where only solo and duo performances where allowed.

Who is the Back-Stage Reporter?

Lots of people have been wondering what the fuzz is about the backstage reporter. With people asking who she is. Well, for your sake, we’ve done our research. Her real name is Onatejiro Odudu and her date of birth is on the 12th of February, 1988. This makes her 30 years old.

Born in Blackburn, Lancashire to Nigerian parents, Onatejiro Odudu graduated at Keele University where she earned a degree in English and Politics. She has since started a career as a reporter for BBC Blast. One of her most popular gigs so far was when she co-presented Big Brother’s “Bit On The Side” and 4 Music’s “Tending Live”.

And finally this year’s prize will be…

Apart from the record deal with Republic Records, the winner of this year’s series will also go home with a whopping £100,000 – That’s almost enough to start a quality celebrity lifestyle – Not!
